Kudirat Abiola, murdered on the orders of Mustafa

A Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja on Monday sentenced a former presidential Chief Security Officer, Major Hamza al-Mustapha, and a co-accused, Lateef Shofolahan, to death by hanging

for the murder of Alhaja Kudirat Abiola on June 3, 1996.

Al-Mustapha was the CSO to former head of state, Gen. Sani Abacha, till the dictator died on June 8, 1998 while Shofolahan was an aide to Kudirat.

Both men were convicted for the kiling of Kudirat in Lagos. At the time, she was campaigning for the release of her husband and winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, Chief MKO Abiola.
